Trentham Words in Winter 2026

It's been a busy time behind the scenes this Words in Winter.
With five weekends in August this year, there’s a diverse program on offer with an exciting range of events. Started in 2004 by community volunteers, and continuing since, the succeeding years, in some ways, telling Trentham’s most recent Words in Winter story.
The core creative events encourage local poets and writers: 6-word stories and 50-word stories, short stories, bush poetry and contemporary poetry. Over the years the local venues have also evolved, like bookshop-to-café, renovation of the Cosmo Hotel’s stables, and the new Mechanics.
We are grateful to the volunteers who have contributed over the years.
